4.2Mtr X 47 X 175mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber
Selecting the right size
This product is supplied at 4.2 metres in length with a cross-section of 47 × 175mm. Verify your project requirements against these dimensions before purchase. C24 timber is suitable for floor joists, roof battens, stud walls, and decking frames. Check your building plans or structural engineer's specifications to confirm the correct section size for your application, as undersizing will compromise load-bearing capacity.
- Confirm length and cross-section match your project requirements
- Check structural calculations or building regulations for minimum section sizes
- Account for any cutting or waste in your order quantity
Understanding the treatment
This timber is pressure-treated with preservative to protect against rot, fungal decay, and insect infestation. The treatment provides long-term durability, particularly where timber may be exposed to moisture or outdoor conditions. The timber is kiln-dried (KD) to reduce moisture content, which aids stability and reduces movement after installation.
- Treated timber is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use
- Kiln-dried reduces moisture-related movement and warping
- Treatment protects against rot and insect attack over the service life
Storage and handling
Store timber in a dry, well-ventilated location away from ground contact. Keep it flat and level, supported at regular intervals to prevent sagging or warping. Protect from direct rainfall and excessive moisture. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the planed finish. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment when handling and cutting timber.
- Store flat on level supports in a dry location
- Keep off the ground and away from standing water
- Protect from weather during storage and on site
Fixing and installation
C24 timber is regularised (planed smooth) for ease of handling and installation. Use appropriate fixings for your application—typically galvanised or stainless steel nails, screws, or bolts to prevent corrosion and ensure durability. For structural applications, follow your building plans and any engineer's specifications regarding spacing, fixing centres, and connection details. Ensure all fixings are driven home fully and securely.
- Use corrosion-resistant fixings (galvanised or stainless steel)
- Follow structural specifications for fixing centres and spacing
- Ensure fixings are fully driven and secure
