4.8Mtr X 47 X 200mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber
Selecting the right size
This 4.8 metre length at 47 × 200mm is a standard carcassing section suitable for floor joists, roof battens, stud walls, and decking frames. C24 timber offers enhanced stability and improved strength compared to C16 grade, making it the preferred choice for structural applications where load-bearing capacity is important. The regularised finish means the timber has been planed to consistent dimensions, making it easier to work with and fit accurately.
- C24 is strength-graded for superior load-bearing performance
- Regularised finish provides consistent dimensions for easier installation
- Pressure-treated with preservative for rot and decay resistance
- Suitable for both indoor and outdoor structural work
Storage and handling
Treated carcassing timber should be stored in dry conditions to maintain its properties. Keep the timber off the ground using bearers or pallets to allow air circulation underneath and prevent moisture absorption. Cover the stack loosely with breathable material to protect from rain whilst allowing ventilation.
- Store on level ground using timber bearers or pallets
- Keep in a dry, well-ventilated location
- Protect from direct rain but allow air circulation
- Handle carefully to avoid damage to the planed surface
Fixing and installation
When installing C24 carcassing timber, use appropriate fixings for your application. For joists and structural work, galvanised or stainless steel fixings are recommended to prevent corrosion and maintain the integrity of the treated timber. Ensure adequate bearing length at supports and follow building regulations for spacing and support requirements.
- Use galvanised or stainless steel fixings to prevent corrosion
- Ensure adequate bearing length at all support points
- Follow current BS EN standards and building regulations
- Allow for natural movement and settlement in structural applications
Cutting and finishing
The timber can be cut to length on site using standard woodworking tools. Where cuts are made, the exposed wood is no longer protected by the factory treatment. For outdoor applications or areas at risk of moisture, consider applying additional preservative to cut ends to maintain protection against decay.
- Cut to length using standard saws and tools
- Treat cut ends with preservative for outdoor applications
- The planed finish allows for clean, professional installation
- Smooth surface reduces splinters and improves handling
