How and where to use guide
6.0Mtr X 47 X 150mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber
Floor joists and suspended floors
This timber is ideal for floor joists in domestic properties and light commercial buildings. The C24 grading provides the strength needed to support floor loads safely across typical domestic spans.
- Use at 400mm or 600mm centres depending on load and span calculations
- Ensure adequate bearing at each end (typically 50mm minimum on masonry or steel)
- Install with crown (slight curve) facing upwards to help distribute load
Stud walls and partitions
The 47 × 150mm section is well-suited to timber-frame stud walls for both load-bearing and non-load-bearing applications. The regularised finish provides a clean, professional appearance.
- Space studs at 400mm or 600mm centres vertically
- Use as vertical studs with horizontal nogging or blocking as required
- Suitable for both internal partitions and external walls (with appropriate cladding and weatherproofing)
Roof battens and structural framing
C24 timber performs well in roof applications, including rafter support, collar ties, and roof battens. The pressure treatment provides protection in roof voids where moisture can accumulate.
- Use for roof battens, purlins, and secondary structural members
- Suitable for both pitched and flat roof applications
- Pressure treatment protects against moisture ingress in poorly ventilated roof spaces
Decking frames and outdoor structures
The pressure-treated specification makes this timber suitable for outdoor applications including decking frames, pergolas, and garden structures. The treatment protects against weather exposure and ground contact.
- Ideal for decking joists and structural framing
- Use for pergolas, arbours, and other garden structures
- Pressure treatment provides durability without need for additional on-site treatment
General construction and repairs
Beyond primary structural applications, C24 carcassing timber is suitable for blocking, bracing, nogging, and general construction work where strength and durability are required.
- Use for herringbone bracing in timber-frame walls
- Suitable for blocking between joists and studs
- Appropriate for structural repairs and reinforcement work
