3.6Mtr X 47 X 200mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber

Selecting the right size

This product is supplied as 3.6 metres long, 47mm wide, and 200mm deep. Verify your project requirements against these dimensions before purchase. C24 timber is suitable for floor joists, roof battens, stud walls, and decking frames. Check your building plans or structural engineer's specifications to confirm the correct cross-section and length for your application.

  • Measure twice to avoid waste and unnecessary returns
  • Account for cutting and waste when calculating quantities
  • Confirm load-bearing requirements with your structural design

Moisture content and storage

This timber is supplied kiln-dried (KD), meaning it has been dried to a controlled moisture content. Store it in a dry location, protected from weather and ground contact. Keep the timber flat and well-ventilated to prevent warping or moisture re-absorption before installation.

  • Stack horizontally with spacers between layers for air circulation
  • Cover with a breathable tarpaulin if stored outdoors
  • Avoid direct ground contact; use bearers or pallets

Pressure treatment and handling

The timber is pressure-treated with preservative to resist rot, fungal decay, and insect attack. This treatment is integral to the timber's durability, particularly for outdoor or damp applications. Handle treated timber with standard care; no special precautions are required for normal building work.

  • Wear gloves when handling to avoid splinters
  • Use standard hand and power tools for cutting and fixing
  • Dispose of offcuts responsibly; do not burn treated timber

Fixing methods

C24 carcassing timber is fixed using standard fastening methods appropriate to your application. For joists and structural work, use galvanised or stainless steel fixings to prevent corrosion, particularly in treated timber. Nails, screws, and bolts are all suitable depending on the joint design.

  • Use corrosion-resistant fixings to match the timber's durability
  • Follow building regulations and structural engineer specifications for spacing and fixing centres
  • Pre-drill where necessary to prevent splitting, especially near timber edges
