3.0Mtr X 47 X 225mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber
Specification and grading
This timber is strength-graded to C24 standard, indicating superior load-bearing capacity and reliability compared to lower grades such as C16. The regularised finish means edges and faces are planed smooth for consistent dimensions and easier handling. Kiln-dried (KD) stock reduces moisture content, minimising movement and warping after installation. Pressure treatment with preservative provides long-term protection in exposed or damp conditions.
- Strength grade: C24 (EN 338 standard)
- Dimensions: 47 × 225 mm × 3.0 metres
- Finish: Regularised and kiln-dried
- Treatment: Pressure-applied preservative for rot and insect resistance
Typical applications
C24 treated carcassing timber is widely used in structural applications where strength and durability are essential. Its enhanced stability and fewer knots make it suitable for both primary and secondary load-bearing elements.
- Floor joists and joist hangers
- Roof battens and structural framing
- Stud walls and partition framing
- Decking frames and outdoor construction
- General structural carcassing work
Handling and storage
Although kiln-dried, treated timber should be stored in dry conditions to maintain its properties. Stack timber flat or on edge with adequate air circulation between pieces. Protect from prolonged exposure to standing water or ground contact, even though the preservative treatment provides protection.
- Store in a dry, well-ventilated location
- Keep off the ground using bearers or pallets
- Allow air circulation between stacked pieces
- Protect from prolonged wet conditions
Fixing and fastening
Use appropriate fasteners for structural applications. Stainless steel or galvanised fixings are recommended to prevent corrosion, particularly in treated timber or outdoor environments. Ensure fixings are sized correctly for the timber section and load requirements.
- Use stainless steel or galvanised fasteners
- Select nail or screw size appropriate to timber thickness
- Follow building regulations and structural design guidance
- Pre-drill where necessary to prevent splitting
