Torus Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 169mm

What this product is and who it is for

This is a primed MDF moulding profile with enhanced moisture resistance, designed for internal use in domestic and commercial properties. It suits builders, decorators, and serious DIY customers installing skirting boards, wall panelling, or architectural detailing in areas prone to humidity. The primed finish means you can paint directly or apply further coatings without primer preparation.

  • Moisture resistant MDF construction for kitchens, bathrooms, and utility rooms
  • Pre-primed finish ready for paint or stain
  • Large 169mm face width creates bold visual definition
  • 18mm depth provides structural stability and shadow lines

Sizing and pack contents

Each length supplied is 5.49 metres. Plan your installation by measuring the total linear metres of wall you intend to cover, then divide by 5.49 to determine how many lengths you need. Account for waste and cutting at internal and external corners, typically adding 10 per cent to your calculated requirement.

  • Single length: 5.49 metres
  • Face width: 169mm
  • Depth: 18mm
  • Primed and ready to install

Preparation and fixing

Before installation, inspect the wall surface for plumb and flatness. MDF profiles perform best on smooth, dry, properly prepared surfaces. Use a moisture meter to confirm wall moisture content is below 12 per cent, particularly important in bathrooms and kitchens. Cut lengths to size using a fine-toothed saw, and sand cut edges lightly to remove splinters. Fix using MDF-grade adhesive combined with panel pins or screws at 300-400mm centres, depending on wall condition and profile weight.

  • Check wall is plumb, flat, and dry before fixing
  • Use MDF-compatible adhesive and mechanical fixings
  • Space fixings at 300-400mm intervals
  • Sand cut edges to prevent splintering
  • Allow adhesive to cure fully before painting

Finishing and maintenance

The primed surface accepts most interior paints, eggshell, and satin finishes. Apply a second coat of primer in moisture-prone areas for additional protection. Once painted, wipe clean regularly with a dry cloth. In high-moisture environments, ensure adequate ventilation to prevent condensation buildup on the profile surface.

  • Paint with quality interior emulsion, eggshell, or satin
  • Apply additional primer coat in bathrooms and kitchens
  • Maintain good ventilation to prevent moisture damage
  • Clean with dry cloth; avoid prolonged water contact
