Torus Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 198mm

What this product is and who it is for

This is a large-format decorative moulding manufactured from moisture-resistant MDF with a factory-applied primer. It is designed for trade and serious DIY customers installing skirting boards, dado rails, or architectural features in kitchens, bathrooms, cloakrooms, and other moisture-prone internal spaces. The pre-primed finish saves preparation time and provides a stable base for paint or stain. It is not suitable for external use or areas of prolonged water immersion.

  • Pre-primed MDF profile ready for paint or stain
  • Moisture-resistant core for kitchens and bathrooms
  • Large 198mm face width for statement moulding
  • Internal use only

Sizing and pack contents

Each length is a single 5.49 metre continuous piece. The profile measures 18mm deep and 198mm across the face. Calculate your linear metre requirement by measuring the perimeter of the room or the length of wall where the moulding will be installed, then add 10 per cent for waste, joints, and cutting errors. Order additional lengths as required; joints should be cut at 45-degree angles for a professional finish.

  • Single 5.49 metre length per item
  • Face width 198mm, depth 18mm
  • Pre-primed finish
  • Add 10% to measured length for waste and joints

Compatibility and fixing

This moulding is compatible with standard timber fixings and adhesives suitable for MDF. Fix to plasterboard, brick, or timber substrates using MDF-grade screws, nails, or construction adhesive rated for MDF. Ensure the wall surface is clean, dry, and level before installation. In moisture-prone areas, use corrosion-resistant fixings and allow the primer to cure fully before exposing to steam or splashing. The moisture-resistant core extends durability but does not make the product waterproof.

  • Fix with MDF-grade screws, nails, or construction adhesive
  • Suitable for plasterboard, brick, and timber substrates
  • Use corrosion-resistant fixings in bathrooms and kitchens
  • Ensure wall surface is clean, dry, and level before fixing

Pre-installation checks

Before ordering, verify your wall dimensions and check that the wall surface is sound, dry, and free from mould or damp. Inspect the profile on delivery for damage or warping. Store the moulding flat in a dry environment for at least 48 hours before installation to allow it to acclimatise. Check that your fixings and adhesives are rated for MDF use. Allow the primer to cure fully before painting or staining, following the primer manufacturer's instructions.

  • Measure walls accurately and allow 10% for waste
  • Check wall surface is dry and free from damp
  • Store flat in dry conditions for 48 hours before fixing
  • Verify fixings and adhesives are MDF-compatible
  • Allow primer to cure before final decoration
