Torus Primed Moisture Resistant MDF Profile 5.49 Mtr 18mm x 70mm

What this product is and who it is for

This is a primed MDF moulding profile with a torus (rounded) edge design. MDF (medium-density fibreboard) is a stable, consistent material that machines cleanly and accepts paint and stain well. The moisture-resistant treatment makes it suitable for kitchens, bathrooms, and other areas prone to humidity. It is designed for professional builders, shopfitters, and experienced DIY customers installing internal trim, skirting, or decorative moulding.

Sizing and pack contents

Each length supplied is 5.49 metres. The profile measures 18mm thick by 70mm wide, giving a substantial, visible trim line suitable for period properties and contemporary interiors. Check your total linear meterage requirement and order accordingly; lengths can be cut to size on site using a fine-toothed saw or mitre saw.

  • Single length: 5.49 metres
  • Cross-section: 18mm x 70mm
  • Profile: Torus (rounded edge)
  • Material: Moisture-resistant MDF
  • Finish: Pre-primed

Compatibility and preparation

The pre-primed finish means the profile is ready for final decoration immediately after fixing; no primer coat is required. It is compatible with standard wood adhesives, nails, and screws. Before installation, check that walls are dry, flat, and free from dust. Measure and mark fixing positions carefully. The moisture-resistant treatment protects against humidity but does not eliminate the need for proper site ventilation and good building practice.

  • Pre-primed – ready for paint or stain
  • Compatible with wood screws, nails, and adhesives
  • Requires flat, dry wall surface
  • Moisture-resistant treatment – not waterproof
  • Can be cut, routed, and shaped on site

Fixing and installation checks

Fix using corrosion-resistant screws or stainless steel nails at 400–600mm centres into timber studs or solid walls with appropriate plugs. Ensure mitred or butt joints are tight and level before securing. Fill any gaps or screw holes with fine surface filler, sand smooth, and apply finish paint. Check that the profile sits flush against the wall and is not twisted or bowed before final fixing.

  • Fix at 400–600mm centres
  • Use corrosion-resistant fasteners
  • Ensure wall is level and flat
  • Fill and sand joints before painting
  • Allow primed surface to dry fully before decoration
