What this product is and who it is for

This is a primed MDF profile board measuring 148mm wide by 18mm thick, supplied in a single 5.49 metre length. It is designed for both trade professionals and serious DIY customers undertaking furniture, shelving and storage projects. The moisture-resistant treatment makes it more stable than standard MDF in kitchens, bathrooms and other areas where humidity levels may fluctuate.

  • Suitable for shelving units, display cases and fitted furniture
  • Moisture-resistant core reduces swelling and warping
  • Factory-primed surface ready for painting or finishing
  • Engineered board offers consistent quality and stability

Sizing and pack contents

You receive one continuous length of 5.49 metres. The profile measures 148mm in width and 18mm in thickness, providing a substantial board suitable for load-bearing shelves and structural elements in furniture projects. Plan your cuts carefully before purchase, as this is a single length with no joints or sections.

  • Single 5.49m length per purchase
  • 148mm width suitable for standard shelving spans
  • 18mm thickness provides good rigidity for most applications
  • Square edges allow for butt joints and clean assembly

Pre-purchase checks and compatibility

Confirm that the 148mm width and 18mm thickness suit your project design and intended span. Check that your workshop or site has adequate storage for a 5.49 metre length, and ensure you have appropriate cutting equipment (circular saw, table saw or hand saw) to cut the board to your required dimensions. Verify that your finishing schedule (paint, stain or veneer) is compatible with primed MDF surfaces.

  • Measure your project space and shelf span requirements
  • Confirm cutting and assembly tools are available
  • Check storage space for a 5.49m length before delivery
  • Plan your finishing schedule in advance

Installation and finishing preparation

The board arrives primed and ready for further finishing. Before installation, allow the material to acclimatise to your workshop environment for 24 to 48 hours. Inspect the length for any damage in transit. The primer provides a base coat, but you should sand lightly with fine-grit paper and apply your chosen topcoat (paint, stain or veneer) before final assembly. Ensure all cut edges are sealed with primer or paint to maintain moisture resistance.

  • Allow acclimatisation time before cutting and assembly
  • Inspect for transit damage upon delivery
  • Sand primer lightly before applying topcoat
  • Prime or paint all cut edges to protect against moisture
