Fixing and buying guide
4.8Mtr X 47 X 250mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber
Selecting the right size
This product is supplied at 47 × 250mm cross-section in 4.8 metre lengths. C24 timber is suitable for floor joists, roof battens, stud walls, and decking frames. Check your structural design or building plans to confirm the required dimensions and spacing for your application. C24 offers enhanced strength and stability compared to C16 grade, making it suitable for applications requiring higher load-bearing capacity.
- Cross-section: 47 × 250mm
- Length: 4.8 metres
- Strength grade: C24
- Suitable for joists, battens, studs, and decking frames
Pressure treatment and durability
This timber is pressure-treated with preservative to protect against rot, fungal decay, and insect infestation. The treatment provides long-term durability for both indoor and outdoor use. Treated timber is suitable for applications where moisture exposure is likely, including external decking frames and ground-level construction.
- Pressure-treated for rot and decay resistance
- Protected against insect attack
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor applications
- Long-term durability in demanding environments
Storage and handling
Store timber in a dry location, ideally under cover, to maintain its condition before installation. Stack pieces horizontally with spacers between layers to allow air circulation. Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight or standing water. The regularised, planed finish makes handling easier on site.
- Store under cover in a dry location
- Use spacers when stacking to allow air flow
- Protect from prolonged wet exposure
- Handle carefully to avoid damage to planed surfaces
Quantity and ordering
Calculate the number of pieces required based on your joist spacing, stud layout, or frame design. For floor joists at 400mm centres, for example, you will need more pieces than at 600mm centres. Consider waste and cutting allowance when ordering. This product is supplied as individual lengths; order the quantity needed for your complete project.
- Calculate based on spacing requirements (typically 400–600mm centres)
- Allow for waste and cutting
- Order complete lengths to minimise waste
- Confirm delivery and storage space before ordering
