Fixing and buying guide

4.8Mtr X 75 X 150mm C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber

Selecting the right size

This product is supplied as 4.8 metre lengths with a finished section of 75 × 150mm. C24 timber is suitable for floor joists, roof battens, stud walls, and decking frames. Check your structural design or building plans to confirm the required section size and spacing for your application.

  • 75 × 150mm section is commonly used for joists and structural framing
  • 4.8 metre length suits standard building layouts with minimal waste
  • Regularised finish means consistent sizing across all pieces

Strength grading and standards

C24 timber is strength-graded to BS EN 338 standards, offering superior load-bearing capacity compared to C16 grade. The grading ensures consistent mechanical properties and reliability for structural work.

  • C24 grade provides higher bending strength and stiffness than C16
  • Meets current BS EN standards for structural applications
  • Suitable for both residential and commercial building projects

Treatment and durability

The timber is pressure-treated with preservative to protect against rot, fungal decay, and insect attack. This treatment extends the service life significantly, particularly in damp or exposed conditions.

  • Pressure-treated for protection against rot and decay
  • Resistant to insect infestation
  • Suitable for both internal and external applications

Storage and handling

Store treated timber in a dry location, ideally under cover. Stack pieces horizontally with spacers between layers to allow air circulation and prevent moisture accumulation. Handle with care to avoid damage to the planed finish.

  • Keep timber dry and protected from weather before installation
  • Use spacers when stacking to allow ventilation
  • Avoid dropping or dragging pieces to prevent surface damage

Quantity and ordering

Calculate your requirements based on joist spacing, wall stud spacing, or frame design. Account for cutting waste and any offcuts needed for blocking or bracing. Order slightly above calculated needs to allow for material selection on site.

  • Measure total linear metres required for your project
  • Allow for cutting waste and site selection
  • Order in whole lengths to minimise waste
