How and where to use guide

ST500804-ST Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z & Y 5mm X 80mm - (10g) - 350 Tub

Typical applications

These screws are suited to general timber-to-timber fastening in carpentry, joinery and construction work. The 80mm length handles thicker timber sections and assemblies where standard shorter fasteners would be insufficient. The double countersunk head sits flush with the timber surface, making them ideal for visible work where a neat finish is required. Use in softwoods, hardwoods and engineered timber products.

  • Structural timber connections and bracing
  • Joinery and cabinet assembly
  • Decking and external timber cladding
  • Roof and floor joist work
  • Visible carpentry where flush finish is essential

Installation and technique

The type-17 point allows these screws to drive through hard timber without pre-drilling in most softwoods and standard hardwoods, saving time on site. Use the supplied Stick-Fit driver bits in a cordless or mains drill-driver set to medium speed. Position the screw perpendicular to the timber surface and apply steady downward pressure as you drive. The wide single thread pulls the timber together rapidly, so avoid over-tightening which may strip the thread or split the timber. For hardwoods or dense timbers, a pilot hole of approximately 3mm diameter is recommended to prevent splitting and ensure clean insertion.

  • Use supplied PoziSquare driver bits for reliable bit engagement
  • Drive at moderate speed to maintain control and prevent bit slip
  • Apply steady downward pressure without forcing
  • Pre-drill hardwoods and timbers near edges to prevent splitting
  • Stop driving once the head sits flush with the surface

Finish and limitations

The double-angle countersunk head provides a professional flush finish suitable for visible work and painted surfaces. The Z and Y coating offers corrosion resistance appropriate for internal and protected external applications. These screws are not suitable for direct ground contact, wet environments without protection, or applications requiring stainless steel fasteners. Do not use in metal-to-timber work or where the screw will be subject to repeated vibration without additional locking measures.

  • Double countersunk head sits flush for neat appearance
  • Z and Y coating provides standard corrosion protection
  • Not suitable for ground contact or prolonged wet exposure
  • Not designed for metal fastening applications
  • Consider additional locking for high-vibration environments

On-site storage and handling

Store the 350-screw tub in a dry location on site to prevent corrosion and maintain coating integrity. Keep the supplied driver bits in the tub or a secure tool bag to avoid loss. The tub format allows easy portability and controlled dispensing, reducing waste and keeping fasteners organised. Check that screws remain dry and free from contamination before use, particularly on damp building sites.

  • Keep tub sealed and stored in dry conditions
  • Retain supplied driver bits for consistent performance
  • Inspect screws for damage or corrosion before use
  • Dispense only the quantity needed for each task
