Fire Resistant Plasterboard Tapered Edge 15mm x 2700mm x 1200mm (36 Per Pallet)

What you are buying

Each board measures 15mm thick, 2700mm long, and 1200mm wide. The tapered edge profile is recessed along the long edges, allowing joint tape and compound to sit flush for a smooth finished surface. Fire resistant plasterboard contains additives and mineral fibres that improve fire performance compared to standard plasterboard. This pallet contains 36 boards, providing approximately 116.64 square metres of coverage.

  • Board dimensions: 15mm thick × 2700mm long × 1200mm wide
  • Tapered edges on long sides for seamless jointing
  • 36 boards per pallet
  • Total coverage: approximately 116.64 m²
  • Suitable for walls, ceilings, and fire-rated partitions

Compatibility and applications

Fire resistant plasterboard is compatible with standard metal stud framing (typically 50mm or 75mm C-studs spaced at 400mm or 600mm centres) and timber frame construction. It is commonly used in commercial buildings, hospitals, care homes, and residential blocks where building regulations demand enhanced fire safety. Check your local building regulations and fire safety standards to confirm the required board thickness and specification for your application, as fire rating requirements vary by building type and use.

  • Works with metal stud and timber frame systems
  • Typical stud spacing: 400mm or 600mm centres
  • Verify fire rating requirements with building control before purchase
  • Not suitable for wet areas without additional moisture protection

Fixing and installation

Fire resistant plasterboard is fixed to studs using drywall screws or nails, spaced at approximately 300mm intervals on walls and 250mm on ceilings. The tapered edges must be properly jointed using joint tape and plasterboard compound to achieve a fire-rated finish. Ensure studs are straight and properly spaced before fixing. All cut edges and damaged areas should be sealed with joint compound or fire-rated sealant to maintain fire performance. Allow adequate time for compound to dry between coats before sanding and decoration.

  • Fix with drywall screws or nails at 300mm intervals (walls) or 250mm (ceilings)
  • Screw heads should sit just below the board surface without breaking the paper
  • Joint tapered edges with standard joint tape and compound
  • Seal all cut edges and damage with joint compound
  • Allow full drying time between coats before final decoration

Pre-installation checks

Before delivery, confirm your site can accommodate a full pallet and that access is adequate for unloading. Inspect boards on arrival for damage or moisture exposure. Store boards flat and horizontally in a dry, well-ventilated area, protected from rain and direct sunlight. Allow boards to acclimatise to site temperature and humidity for 24 hours before fixing. Check that your framing is square, level, and properly braced, and verify all fire safety specifications with building control documentation.

  • Confirm site access and storage space for full pallet
  • Inspect boards for damage upon delivery
  • Store flat and dry; allow 24-hour acclimatisation before use
  • Verify framing is square, level, and properly spaced
  • Confirm fire rating requirements with building control
