S/K-90 2400MM KEYSTONE CAVITY WALL LINTEL
What this lintel is for
This lintel is engineered to support the weight of brickwork and other materials above window and door openings in cavity wall construction. The 2400mm length makes it suitable for larger openings or wide spans. It is designed to be built into the mortar bed during bricklaying, with the lintel bearing on both sides of the cavity wall.
- Load-bearing steel lintel for cavity walls
- 2400mm span length
- Supports masonry above openings
- Suitable for windows, doors, and other apertures
Sizing and compatibility
The 2400mm length is a standard specification for medium to large openings. Before ordering, measure the clear opening width and add the required bearing length on each side (typically 150mm minimum per side, depending on building regulations and structural design). Confirm the lintel depth and width are compatible with your cavity wall thickness and the height of the opening. Always refer to structural drawings or consult a structural engineer if you are unsure of the correct lintel size.
- Measure opening width and add bearing allowance
- Check cavity wall thickness matches lintel profile
- Verify lintel depth suits the opening height
- Consult structural drawings for load requirements
Installation and preparation
The lintel must be built into the mortar bed during bricklaying. Ensure the supporting brickwork is level and the mortar bed is even before positioning the lintel. The lintel should rest fully on both sides of the cavity wall with adequate bearing. Do not rely on mortar alone to support the lintel; it must be properly seated on the masonry. Allow adequate time for mortar to cure before applying further loads. Protect the lintel from weather and corrosion during storage and installation.
- Position lintel level in mortar bed
- Ensure full bearing on both cavity wall sides
- Minimum 150mm bearing each end (check structural spec)
- Allow mortar to cure fully before loading
- Protect from moisture and corrosion during work
Pre-installation checks
Before installation, inspect the lintel for any damage, rust, or defects. Verify the length is correct for your opening and that you have the right lintel type for your structural requirements. Check that brickwork below is level and properly cured. Confirm you have the correct mortar mix and that weather conditions are suitable for bricklaying. Have all necessary tools and supporting materials ready before beginning installation.
- Inspect lintel for damage or corrosion
- Confirm 2400mm length matches your specification
- Check brickwork below is level and sound
- Verify mortar type and weather conditions
- Have all tools and materials to hand
