4.8Mtr X 47 X 75mm C16/C24 Treated Regularised KD Carcassing Timber

Strength grading and specification

This timber is strength-graded to C24 standard, which indicates superior load-bearing capacity and reliability compared to C16 grade. C24 timber has fewer knots and improved strength characteristics, making it suitable for structural applications where performance is critical. The timber is regularised, meaning the edges are planed for a consistent finish, and kiln-dried (KD) to reduce moisture content for stability.

  • C24 grade offers enhanced load-bearing performance for joists, beams, and stud walls
  • Regularised finish provides consistent dimensions and easier handling on site
  • Kiln-dried to reduce movement and improve dimensional stability

Treatment and durability

The timber is pressure-treated with preservative to protect against rot, fungal decay, and insect attack. This treatment extends the service life of the timber in both indoor and outdoor environments, making it suitable for applications exposed to moisture or ground contact.

  • Pressure-treated for protection against rot and fungal decay
  • Resistant to insect infestation
  • Suitable for use in damp or exposed locations

Sizing and quantity

This product is supplied as a single 4.8 metre length with a cross-section of 47 × 75 mm. When calculating quantities, account for waste and cutting losses, typically 5–10% depending on your layout and joinery requirements. For floor joists or roof work, calculate spacing and span requirements according to building regulations and structural design.

  • Single length of 4.8 metres
  • Cross-section: 47 × 75 mm
  • Allow for waste and cutting losses in your order

Storage and handling

Store the timber in a dry, well-ventilated location to maintain its kiln-dried condition. Keep it off the ground on level bearers to prevent moisture uptake and warping. Protect from direct weather exposure during storage. Handle carefully to avoid damage to the planed edges and surfaces.

  • Store in a dry, ventilated area away from ground contact
  • Keep protected from rain and direct weather exposure
  • Handle to avoid damage to the regularised finish
