How and where to use guide
5.1MTR X 32 X 38MM PAR PREMIUM WHITE REDWOOD FIRE DOOR STOP
Primary applications
Fire door stops are installed on the frame rebate of fire-rated doors to ensure proper sealing when the door closes. They are essential in buildings subject to Building Regulations fire safety requirements, including offices, schools, hospitals, and multi-residential properties. The stop prevents the door leaf from closing too far and damaging the door edge, whilst maintaining the integrity of the fire seal.
- Internal fire-rated door frames
- Commercial and residential buildings
- Areas requiring fire compartmentalisation
- Doors with intumescent seals or smoke seals
Installation location on frame
The fire door stop is fixed to the frame rebate (the recessed edge where the door closes against). It is typically installed on the head (top) and both jambs (sides) of the frame, but not on the threshold. The stop should be positioned so the door closes firmly against it without excessive force, allowing the fire seals to compress properly.
- Fixed to the frame rebate, not the face
- Installed on head and both jambs
- Positioned to allow proper door closure
- Must not interfere with door hardware or seals
Compatibility with door types
This fire door stop is suitable for use with standard internal fire-rated doors, including timber and composite doors. It works with doors fitted with intumescent seals, smoke seals, or both. Ensure the stop profile does not obstruct any door furniture, hinges, or closing mechanisms. The premium white redwood finish is compatible with painted or stained finishes.
- Compatible with timber and composite fire doors
- Works with intumescent and smoke seals
- Suitable for standard door hardware
- Can be painted or stained to match décor
Finishing and maintenance
The premium white redwood finish provides a clean appearance suitable for painting or staining. If painting, use appropriate primer and paint for timber mouldings. The stop should be inspected regularly to ensure fixings remain secure and the stop is not damaged. Any gaps between the stop and frame should be sealed to maintain fire safety integrity.
- Prime and paint with suitable timber paint
- Alternatively stain to match door frame
- Inspect fixings regularly for security
- Seal any gaps between stop and frame
