PREMDOR Vertical 5 Panel Smooth FD30 FIRESHIELD 1981mm x 762mm x 44mm PEFC COMPLIANT

Typical applications and fire safety

This FD30 fire door is engineered to provide 30-minute fire resistance and is suitable for internal doorways where fire safety regulations require compartmentalisation between spaces. Common applications include hallways, stairwells, and room separations in houses, flats, and commercial buildings. The door meets fire performance standards whilst maintaining a traditional panel appearance. Always ensure the door is hung with appropriate fire-rated hinges, seals, and hardware to maintain its fire rating—the door alone does not provide fire resistance without proper installation.

  • Use in internal openings where FD30 fire rating is required by building regulations
  • Suitable for residential and commercial properties
  • Maintains fire compartmentalisation between rooms and escape routes
  • Must be installed with fire-rated hinges, seals, and closers to achieve rated performance

On-site finishing and painting

The door arrives with a white base coat and smooth moulded panel faces, ready for on-site finishing. The smooth surface is specifically designed to accept paint easily, allowing you to match the door to your interior colour scheme without extensive preparation. Light sanding may be required if the door has been handled or stored, but the quality finish minimises the need for heavy surface work. Apply standard interior paint systems suitable for timber doors—use a primer if changing from white to a significantly darker colour.

  • White base coat provides a clean starting point for your chosen finish colour
  • Smooth panel faces accept paint readily with minimal surface preparation
  • Light sanding recommended before painting if required
  • Use standard interior wood primers and paints suitable for fire-rated doors

Installation and handling

The door measures 1981mm x 762mm x 44mm and is designed for standard UK internal door frames. Ensure the frame is square and plumb before hanging. The door should be hung using fire-rated hinges—typically three hinges for a door of this size—and must be fitted with an intumescent seal around the frame perimeter to maintain its fire rating. Handle the door carefully on site to avoid damage to the smooth faces and moulded panels. Store vertically or flat in a dry location to prevent warping.

  • Dimensions: 1981mm height x 762mm width x 44mm thickness
  • Hang with three fire-rated hinges on a square, plumb frame
  • Install intumescent seals around the frame to complete the fire rating
  • Avoid dragging or dropping; protect smooth faces during transport and storage
  • Store in dry conditions to prevent moisture-related movement

Maintenance and care

Once painted and installed, maintain the door as you would any internal timber door. Keep the painted surface clean and inspect periodically for any signs of damage or paint deterioration. The PEFC compliance indicates responsible forestry sourcing. In the event of damage to the door or seals, repair or replace promptly to preserve the fire rating. Do not modify the door by cutting or drilling unless absolutely necessary, and never remove or damage the intumescent seals.

  • Clean painted surfaces regularly with a damp cloth
  • Inspect seals and hinges periodically for wear or damage
  • Repair paint damage promptly to protect the timber
  • Do not cut, drill, or modify the door structure
  • Never remove or damage intumescent seals—they are essential to fire performance
