Typical applications

Siniat Fire Plasterboard is specified for non-loadbearing internal partition systems, wall linings, and suspended ceiling systems where fire resistance is essential. Common uses include escape routes, compartment walls, and areas requiring Building Regulations compliance for fire safety. It is particularly effective in metal stud partition systems where the board's fire performance contributes to overall system certification.

Installation and fixing

Install Siniat Fire Plasterboard using standard plasterboard fixing methods appropriate to your support structure. Ensure boards are fixed securely to metal or timber studs with proper spacing and support. The 15mm thickness is designed for single-layer applications in fire-rated systems; do not reduce thickness below specification as this compromises fire performance. Stagger joints between sheets to maintain system integrity and improve structural stability.

  • Fix to metal studs using self-drilling screws at recommended centres
  • Maintain proper board support across all studs to prevent sagging
  • Stagger vertical and horizontal joints to avoid continuous lines
  • Ensure no gaps between boards and studs that could compromise fire rating

Fire performance and limitations

This board achieves 60 minutes fire resistance as a single layer in metal stud non-loadbearing partition systems to EN 520 Type DF classification. Fire performance is system-dependent; the rating applies only when installed as part of a certified partition system with appropriate studs, fixings, and sealing. Do not assume fire performance in applications outside the tested system specification. The board is not suitable for loadbearing applications or external use.

On-site handling and finishing

Handle boards carefully to avoid damage that could compromise fire integrity. Store flat and dry on-site; protect from weather and moisture. Once installed, finish joints and fixings using standard plasterboard jointing compounds and tape. Ensure all joints are properly sealed to maintain the fire-rated system performance. Avoid cutting or drilling unnecessarily; if services must pass through, seal penetrations appropriately according to fire safety requirements.
