Installation and on-site handling

Install Siniat dB Sound Plasterboard using standard dry-lining techniques with timber or metal stud framing. The 2400mm x 1200mm sheet size is designed for efficient coverage and minimal waste. Ensure studs are spaced at appropriate centres (typically 400mm or 600mm) and that the plasterboard is fixed securely with drywall screws or nails. Stagger joints between sheets to avoid weak points. For maximum acoustic benefit, consider combining with resilient channels, acoustic sealant, or cavity insulation as part of a complete sound-control system. Handle sheets carefully on site to avoid damage that could compromise acoustic seals.

Performance and limitations

As a Type DI plasterboard to EN 520, Siniat dB Sound Plasterboard delivers superior acoustic performance compared to standard plasterboard. However, acoustic effectiveness depends on correct installation, proper sealing of gaps and joints, and the overall system design. A single layer provides meaningful noise reduction, but for critical applications or higher sound reduction requirements, consider double-layer systems or additional acoustic measures such as cavity insulation. Performance will be compromised if joints are not sealed or if the plasterboard is damaged.

Finishing and maintenance

Once installed, Siniat dB Sound Plasterboard is finished like standard plasterboard with joint compound, tape and paint or other surface finishes. Ensure all joints are properly taped and filled to maintain both acoustic and visual quality. The plasterboard itself requires no special maintenance once in place. Avoid drilling or cutting unnecessarily after installation, as this can compromise acoustic seals. If future penetrations are needed for services, use acoustic sealant around pipes, cables or outlets to maintain sound reduction performance.
