How and where to use guide

VELUX Centre-Pivot Roof Windows Pine 134x160cm GGL UK10 3070

Typical applications and positioning

Install this window in pitched roof spaces where you want natural light and ventilation without sacrificing usable floor area. The lower installation position made possible by the top control bar is particularly valuable in bedrooms and living spaces, allowing excellent views whether standing or seated. The 134x160cm size suits most standard UK rafter spacings. Position the window to maximise southern or eastern exposure for natural light, and consider roof pitch and surrounding structures to avoid overshadowing.

  • Loft bedrooms and converted attic spaces
  • Home offices and studios in upper storeys
  • Bathrooms and en-suites where floor space is limited
  • Any pitched roof application where furniture placement matters

Operation and ventilation

Open the top control bar to the ventilation position to allow fresh air circulation through a fully closed window, ideal for background ventilation without weather exposure. For full opening, push the control bar upwards to rotate the sash 180 degrees around its centre pivot. This rotation is essential for safe external glass cleaning from inside the room. The removable and cleanable ventilation filter should be checked regularly and cleaned or replaced to maintain airflow and protect against dust and insect ingress.

  • Use ventilation position for continuous fresh air without opening fully
  • Rotate 180 degrees for safe external glass cleaning from indoors
  • Clean or replace the ventilation filter regularly for optimal performance
  • Operation remains smooth even with furniture positioned directly below

Glazing features and maintenance

The window comes fitted with premium safety lamination, toughened glass and an integrated UV filter as standard. These features provide impact resistance, thermal efficiency and protection against UV fading of interior furnishings. The unique rain noise reduction technology minimises sound transmission during heavy rainfall. Clean the glass regularly using standard window cleaning methods. The pine frame should be inspected annually for any signs of moisture ingress or paint deterioration, particularly around the frame edges and flashing interface.

  • Safety laminated and toughened glass provides impact resistance
  • UV filter protects interior furnishings from fading
  • Rain noise reduction technology minimises external sound
  • Clean glass with standard methods; inspect pine frame annually

Blind installation and on-site tips

Pre-fitted brackets allow quick and easy installation of compatible VELUX blinds by simple click-fitting, without additional fixings or tools. Ensure the roof opening is properly flashed and sealed to the surrounding roof structure before installation. The window requires careful positioning to align with rafter spacing, typically 45 to 90 millimetres from the rafter edge. Allow adequate working space above the window for the control bar operation. Check that the installation height allows comfortable operation and viewing angles for occupants.

  • Use pre-fitted brackets for quick blind installation
  • Ensure proper flashing and weatherproofing before fitting
  • Position carefully within rafter spacing requirements
  • Allow adequate headroom above the window for safe operation
