2040X726X40MM OAK DX 30s STYLE Door

What this door is and who it suits

This is an internal passage door in the 1930s style, characterised by its distinctive four-panel design with recessed detailing. The white oak construction with solid engineered core provides structural integrity whilst maintaining authentic period appearance. It suits homeowners restoring or decorating period properties, those seeking traditional interior styling, and builders specifying heritage-style joinery. The unfinished oak requires sanding and finishing – either staining to enhance the wood grain or painting for a contemporary take on the classic design.

  • Authentic 1930s four-panel design with recessed panels
  • Unfinished white oak – ready for your choice of stain or paint finish
  • Solid engineered core for stability and durability
  • Internal use only

Sizing and compatibility

This door measures 2040mm in height by 726mm in width by 40mm in thickness. The 726mm width is a standard internal door size, fitting typical UK doorway openings of approximately 700-730mm clear width. Confirm your existing frame opening before ordering – measure the clear width between frame jambs and the height from floor to underside of frame head. The 40mm thickness is standard for internal doors and compatible with conventional hinges and latch hardware. Check that your frame is square and plumb; any significant deviation will affect hanging and operation.

  • Height: 2040mm – standard for UK internal doors
  • Width: 726mm – fits typical internal openings
  • Thickness: 40mm – standard for internal door hardware
  • Measure your frame opening before purchase to confirm fit

What is included and pre-installation checks

The door is supplied as a single unfinished oak leaf only – no frame, hinges, handles, or finishing materials are included. Before installation, inspect the door for any damage in transit and check that it is flat and free from warping. The unfinished oak surface will be raw; do not hang the door until you have applied your chosen finish, as unprotected oak will absorb moisture and may swell or stain. Ensure your existing frame is in good condition, square, and securely fixed. Prepare the frame by removing any old paint or debris and check that hinges and latch positions align with standard door hardware.

  • Door leaf only – frame, hinges, and handles not included
  • Unfinished oak – must be sanded and finished before hanging
  • Inspect for transit damage and check for flatness and warping
  • Confirm frame is square, plumb, and structurally sound
  • Plan finishing schedule before installation

Finishing and installation preparation

Sand the unfinished oak surface with 120–180 grit abrasive to remove any surface roughness and prepare for finish. You may then apply your chosen stain to enhance the oak grain, or prime and paint for a solid colour finish. Allow adequate drying time between coats according to product instructions. Once finished, the door is ready for hanging using standard three-hinge configuration (two hinges minimum, three recommended for stability). Ensure hinges are mortised into both door and frame at the correct positions. Fit the latch and handle hardware, then adjust the door for level operation and even gaps around the frame.

  • Sand with 120–180 grit before finishing
  • Apply stain or paint-and-prime system as preferred
  • Allow full drying time before hanging
  • Use standard three-hinge setup for internal doors
  • Mortise hinges carefully to avoid splitting oak
