A400500 Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z&Y - (8g) 4mm X 50mm - 200

Who this screw is for

This screw suits professional carpenters, joiners, and experienced DIY users who demand precision fastening and durability. The absence of ribs on smaller sizes makes these screws ideal for use with hinges, latches, and other fitted hardware where a clean finish and reliable performance are essential. The anti-camout recess and stick-fit design are particularly valuable when driving at speed or in high-volume applications.

Sizing and pack contents

Each screw is 4mm diameter by 50mm length, suitable for fastening softwood and hardwood components where a 50mm penetration depth is required. The pack contains 200 screws, a practical quantity for most carpentry projects, hinge installation, and general joinery work. Always verify that 50mm length is sufficient for your application by checking the combined thickness of materials being fastened plus the minimum embedding depth required in the base timber.

Driving and installation

The pozisquare recess accepts both Phillips (PH) and Pozidriv (PZ) driver bits, giving flexibility in tool choice. The self-centering recess and anti-camout design ensure stable driving with minimal bit slip, whilst the quick start point allows you to begin fastening with reduced force. The reinforced double angle head self-countersinks, eliminating the need for pre-countersinking in most timbers. The slotted shank reduces splitting risk, particularly in hardwoods and near timber edges.

  • Use a correctly sized PH or PZ driver bit to avoid recess damage
  • The quick start point means you can begin driving with light pressure
  • Pre-drill if fastening close to timber edges or in hardwoods prone to splitting
  • The head will self-countersink; do not over-drive as this risks head breakage

Corrosion resistance and storage

These screws are zinc yellow plated for corrosion resistance, making them suitable for interior use and protected external applications. For fully exposed external work in coastal or high-moisture environments, consider stainless steel alternatives. Store in a dry location to maintain the plating integrity, and keep the pack sealed when not in use.
