How and where to use guide
A601006 Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z&Y - (12g) 6mm X 100mm - 100
Typical applications
These screws are ideal for general woodworking, joinery, cabinet making, and furniture assembly where a professional finish and reliable fastening are essential. The 100mm length suits thicker timber components, structural connections, and applications requiring deep penetration. The self-countersinking double angle head makes them particularly suitable for face-fixing where a flush finish is required. The absence of ribs on smaller sizes makes them excellent for use with hinges, latches, and other hardware fittings where clearance is critical.
- Joinery and cabinet work requiring flush countersunk finishes
- Hinge and fitting installation on doors and frames
- Structural timber connections and load-bearing applications
- Furniture assembly and component joining
Driving and installation
The pozisquare recess accepts both PH (Phillips) and PZ (Pozidriv) drivers, offering flexibility on site. The state-of-the-art anti-camout design provides stick-fit stability, preventing bit slip during driving. The quick start point allows rapid starting with minimum force, reducing operator fatigue and improving driving speed. Use a correctly sized driver bit to maximise the anti-camout benefit and avoid damage to the recess. The slotted shank design actively reduces wood splitting, particularly important when driving near timber edges or into dense hardwoods.
- Select PH or PZ driver bit matching the recess size
- Apply steady downward pressure to maintain bit engagement
- Drive at moderate speed to allow the quick start point to establish grip
- Stop driving once the head is flush with the timber surface
- Avoid over-driving, which may damage the recess or timber
Limitations and maintenance
The zinc yellow plating provides good corrosion resistance for interior and sheltered external use, but these screws are not suitable for marine environments or prolonged wet exposure without additional protection. The reinforced double angle head is designed to resist breakage during installation, but excessive force or impact driving should be avoided. Once installed, no ongoing maintenance is required. For external applications, consider applying a protective finish to the timber to extend the life of both fastener and substrate.
- Not recommended for direct ground contact or marine applications
- Avoid impact or hammer driving methods
- Inspect for corrosion if used in damp conditions over extended periods
- Apply timber finish or sealant for external installations
On-site tips
Pre-drilling is recommended for hardwoods, dense timbers, or when driving near edges to prevent splitting and ensure clean installation. The slotted shank provides inherent splitting resistance, but pre-drilling further reduces risk. Keep driver bits clean and in good condition to maintain the anti-camout benefit. Store screws in dry conditions to preserve the zinc yellow finish. When working with hinges and fittings, the absence of ribs on these smaller screws ensures they sit flush without interference.
- Pre-drill hardwoods and timbers within 50mm of edges
- Clean driver bits regularly to maintain recess engagement
- Use a cordless drill or hand driver for controlled, consistent driving
- Store in dry conditions to maintain corrosion resistance
