How and where to use guide

A601303 Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z&Y - (12g) 6mm X 130mm - 50

Typical applications

These 130mm screws are ideal for fastening timber components where deep penetration and strong holding are required. The self-countersinking double angle head makes them particularly suitable for face-fixing applications where a flush or slightly recessed finish is needed. The absence of ribs on the smaller sizes means they work well with hinges, brackets, and metal fittings without fouling. The zinc yellow plating provides corrosion resistance for both internal and external timber work.

  • Structural timber connections and bracing
  • Joinery and cabinet assembly
  • Hinge and fitting installation
  • Decking and external timber work
  • Heavy-duty fastening where splitting resistance is critical

Driving and installation

The PoziSquare recess accepts both PH (Phillips) and PZ (Pozidriv) drivers, offering flexibility on site. The self-centering recess design provides stick-fit stability and anti-camout performance, reducing the risk of bit slip and screw head damage. The quick start point allows rapid starting with minimum force, reducing operator fatigue on high-volume work. Drive the screw straight and at consistent pressure to allow the double angle head to self-countersink smoothly into the timber surface.

  • Use PZ or PH drivers of appropriate size for secure engagement
  • Apply steady, straight pressure to prevent bit camout
  • Allow the reinforced head to self-countersink without forcing
  • The quick start point reduces initial driving resistance

Wood splitting and performance

The slotted shank design significantly reduces wood splitting compared to conventional screws, making these fasteners suitable for dense hardwoods and close-to-edge applications. The reinforced double angle head resists breakage during installation and under load, ensuring reliability in demanding structural applications. Pre-drilling is recommended in hardwoods or near timber edges to further minimise splitting risk.

  • Slotted shank reduces splitting in softwood and hardwood
  • Reinforced head resists breakage under high driving torque
  • Pre-drill in hardwoods or within 50mm of timber edges
  • Suitable for use in dense timbers without excessive force

Corrosion resistance and maintenance

The zinc yellow plating provides reliable corrosion protection for both internal and external applications. For long-term durability in exposed conditions, ensure screws are fully driven and countersunk to prevent water pooling on the head. No additional maintenance is required once installed. Store screws in dry conditions to preserve the plating finish before use.

  • Zinc yellow plating suitable for external and damp environments
  • Ensure full countersinking to prevent water ingress
  • Store in dry conditions before installation
  • No maintenance required once properly installed
