How and where to use guide

A601501 Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z&Y - (12g) 6mm X 150mm - 50

Typical applications

Use these screws for fastening timber-to-timber in structural and semi-structural applications, including roof trusses, floor joists, wall frames, and general carpentry. The 150mm length suits fixing thicker timbers, blocking, and built-up sections. The self-countersinking double angle head makes them ideal for face-fixing where a flush finish is required. The rib-free design is particularly suited to hinge and fitting installation, allowing hardware to sit flush without interference.

  • Structural and semi-structural timber connections
  • Roof and floor framing
  • Hinge and hardware installation
  • Face-fixing where flush finish required
  • Carcassing and joinery work

Driving and installation

The quick start point allows rapid starting with minimal force, reducing operator fatigue on site. The PoziSquare recess is self-centering and compatible with both PH (Phillips) and PZ (Pozidriv) drivers, though a correctly sized PZ driver is recommended for optimal engagement and to prevent camout. The anti-camout geometry ensures stable driving throughout insertion. Pilot holes are recommended in hardwoods and dense timbers to prevent splitting and reduce driving torque. The slotted shank further reduces splitting risk in seasoned or difficult timber.

  • Use correctly sized PZ driver for best results
  • PoziSquare recess accepts both PH and PZ drivers
  • Pilot holes recommended in hardwoods and dense timber
  • Quick start point minimises initial force requirement
  • Slotted shank reduces wood splitting

Limitations and maintenance

These screws are zinc yellow plated for corrosion resistance in internal and protected external environments; they are not suitable for direct exposure to salt water or highly corrosive conditions without additional protection. The 150mm length is designed for substantial timber sections; do not use in thin veneers or sheet materials where over-penetration may occur. Ensure the driving tool is in good condition and the bit is not worn, as a damaged bit will compromise the anti-camout recess and increase breakage risk. Store in dry conditions to maintain the zinc plating integrity.

  • Zinc yellow plating suitable for internal and protected external use only
  • Not recommended for salt water or highly corrosive environments
  • Unsuitable for thin veneers or sheet materials
  • Maintain driver bits in good condition to prevent camout and breakage
  • Store in dry conditions

On-site handling and safety

The reinforced double angle head is resistant to breakage during driving, but over-torquing or using a damaged driver can still cause failure. Ensure the screw is aligned perpendicular to the timber surface before driving to prevent bending. On high-volume applications, use a power driver with appropriate torque settings to maintain consistency and reduce operator strain. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including eye protection, when driving fasteners. Keep screws dry and protected from moisture on site to preserve the zinc plating.

  • Align screw perpendicular to timber surface before driving
  • Use power drivers with appropriate torque settings for high-volume work
  • Wear eye protection when driving fasteners
  • Protect stock from moisture to preserve zinc plating
