How and where to use guide

T400401 Ulti-mate II Professional Woodscrew PoziSquare Double Csk Z&Y - (8g) 4mm X 40mm - 1000 Tub

Typical applications and materials

These screws are suitable for fixing hardwoods, softwoods, and man-made timber boards including MDF, plywood, chipboard and OSB. They also perform effectively in sheet metal applications. The double countersunk head makes them particularly suitable for work where a flush finish is required, such as cabinet making, furniture assembly, architectural joinery and general carpentry where screw heads need to be level with or below the surface.

  • Hardwood and softwood joinery
  • Plywood, MDF, chipboard and OSB board fixing
  • Sheet metal fastening
  • Cabinet and furniture assembly
  • Architectural and visible woodwork applications

Driving and installation

The sharp point and prominent thread allow for rapid start and immediate engagement, reducing driving time and effort. The included Stick-Fit driver bit features the patented PSD recess, which holds the screw securely to the bit during one-handed driving. This connection remains firm throughout insertion, allowing you to position and drive screws without needing to support the fastener separately. The design also enables more screws to be fitted per battery charge compared to standard alternatives.

  • Use the supplied Stick-Fit driver bit for optimal performance
  • Position screw and engage with driver bit before starting
  • Drive with steady pressure to allow thread engagement
  • One-handed operation is possible once screw is engaged to bit
  • Ideal for cordless drill and impact driver use

Countersinking and finishing

The double countersunk head is designed to sit flush with the surface when driven to the correct depth. For visible work, ensure the screw is driven until the head is level with or slightly below the surface. On hardwoods, you may wish to pre-drill to prevent splitting, particularly near edges. The flush-fitting head allows for subsequent filling, sanding or finishing without proud fasteners interfering with the final appearance.

  • Drive until head is flush with surface
  • Pre-drill hardwood near edges to prevent splitting
  • Suitable for filling and finishing over
  • No protruding head to interfere with sanding or planing

Storage and on-site handling

The screws are supplied in a 1000-count tub, which provides convenient storage and easy dispensing on site. Keep the tub sealed when not in use to prevent moisture ingress and corrosion. The zinc and yellow passivated coating provides corrosion resistance suitable for most internal and protected external applications. Store in a dry location and inspect screws before use if stored in damp conditions.

  • Store in sealed tub to maintain condition
  • Keep in dry location away from moisture
  • Zinc and yellow passivated coating resists corrosion
  • Check for any signs of rust before use on critical work
